RRODing my Xbox 360?

Cryox

Bro.
Well, my question is simple: How can i RROD my xbox 360 so that i can send it in to MS for free repairs?
See:

That costs $100 to fix my console.

But here:

This costs a whopping $0.00

So, how do i RROD my xbox?

Thanks. Links, advice, or w/e is appreciated

You could just fix it.
My friend got that, I bought the 360 off him for a game (which I plan to download so I still have it), repaired it, modded it and am selling it on Friday.

Put towels by the vents and leave it on.

Will this still work on E-74 xbox's? cause that is the reason i have to fix it/send in

The 360 I have here had E74. I followed that guide exactly, now it doesn't. And it's a better fix than Microsoft will ever do.

Either do that or

There's some voltage regulators by the gpu and the ram. Take a flat head screwdriver and short out the center pin to one of the pins on the side.

If you're gonna do this make sure you use a properly insulated screwdriver. If you touch metal while doing it then you become part of the circuit. Wont kill you, but getting an electric shock isn't particularly pleasant.

thanks for all the tips guys. I'll probably try the towel idea, and then send it to MS.

Wont doing that void the warranty?

opening the xbox will void the warrenty, i know that much, but i also know that you can use a hairdryer to get the sticker off, then put it back on later like it was never taken off.

Not sure about what QuickJay said though...

You short out the two regulators and you will get the red lights basically. And yes, the hair dryer trick can let you keep your warranty.

won't they be able to tell that i shorted it out, or will they have to repair it since the sticker is still intact?

If they see the sticker, most likely they would just replace it. I usually get a new console, but the case is the same. They normally either swap the guts or give you a refurbish one.

Towelling it will NOT give it the 3RROD. It will make it work for a couple of hours until it just gets 1 red light again...

Toweling may give it the 3 red lights if you do it enough times.
Since it may wrap the motherboard and that can break a resistor or somethng which will cause the RROD.

3 red lights is pretty much the exact same thing as 1. My friend had one and towel tricked it SEVEN times, none of which gave it 3 red lights just let it run a couple of hours. And now his 360 is completely buggered.

Well that sucks. Maybe he didn't let it get hot enough.
