This has been around since 2008, long before Swype. Sucks that Apple won't allow keyboard replacements. I don't know why they won't release it on Cydia as a global keyboard after investing so much time into it.
If you're jailbroken then there's something you can do to make it slightly easier to use. Install LastApp and Activator (it usually comes with other applications so you might already have it) from Cydia. Go to Settings>Activator and click Anywhere>Sleep Button>Short Press and scroll all the way down and choose ShapeWriter. The for In Application and At Home Screen choose Home Button>Short Press and assign it to LastApp.
Now in any text box press and hold the Sleep button to open ShapeWriter. Type your message and triple tap to select all and copy the text. Then hold the Home button to return to your previous application and then paste.
