They haven't announced any plans to bring the program to other countries yet. There's a good chance it will hit Europe eventually, just later as usual

Cool, I suppose, but they really should have just thrown in the Protection Plan free with PS+ and vice versa. That would be nice.

I agree for the most part. Service plans on consoles are a money sink IMO. I'll just take my chances. I've never had a problem with any of mine apart from the original PS2, which started throwing DREs about 3 years after I bought it. Luckily, Sony still fixed it for free even though it was out of warranty. Would've just went for a new slimline unit otherwise.

To be honest, i have always found the customer service with SCE to be very good. Door to door service & no quibbles.
