When firmware 4.45 for PS3 arrived earlier this week, an unusual amount of reports were coming in claiming the update was bricking PS3 consoles. It turns out that Sony has indeed identified there is an issue after promptly pulling the firmware from PSN the night it was released.
"Hi guys, we have identified the issue related to PS3 software update (4.45) that impacted a small number of PS3 systems earlier this week," reads a tweet from the official PlayStation EU Twitter account.
"A new system software update is planned to be released on June 27 that resolves the issue," Sony added.
Six days -- that's somewhat of a long wait for those with a PS3 unit out of commission, but nevertheless it's good to see a fix is coming.
