you mean when you're in game?
shift + tab will bring up the steam browser and on there you can check / track your achievements, just like on xbox and psn.

No I think he is talking about the overlay that you can have up in any corner of the screen you want tracking the progress of achievements. You can make it as transparent as you like.. its a very cool feature. They also allow you to do the same thing with party chat so you can see who is talking.

Here is a video showing it off.. (not my video)

U2Numb that's would be cool but i was Actually referring to the other thing.
Ok right on.. yea shift tab brings up your achievements. The problem with both Steam and PSN is they do not really track in real time which is a huge thing on the Xbox.. that tracking bar is great.

Ok cool gonna try that just what u was looking for it sound like.
This is like Pressing the Nintendo Home, Xbox home or PS button on the consoles. It brings up a menu which you can do various things.

Some games offer their build in trackers.Team Fortress 2 can show it as part of the Hud: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=119880364

Steam itself does track in "real" time (as long as you're online). As far as I can tell 3rd party apps have "scan" your profile for each refresh, which makes overlays limited in use. Some games do even give a progress tracking as seen here: http://steamcommunity.com/id/MikeSharpeWriter/stats/493370/?tab=achievements
