USB Drive Not Showing Up? Try This!

Okay, for my external hard drive, the problem kept on coming after computer goes into sleep, shuts down, or the external hard drive is unplugged. After some more researching, I found out that the Automount feature has been disabled. I don't know how, but it just is. If you have problems like this, where you plug in a USB drive and it doesn't show up [for nerds: ... until you assign them a letter in Disk Management], follow the following steps.

1. Open up command prompt.
2. Type in "diskpart".
3. Type in "automount" and see if it's enabled or disabled.
4. If it's enabled, then this won't fix your problem. If it's disabled, type in "automount enable".
5. Exit. Now plug in your USB drive and the effect should be immediate.

Hope this helped. ;)
