What's an infraction, I just got one! Why hasn't this rude post been deleted?

Q: What is the difference between a warning and an infraction?
A: Based on our system, when you receive an infraction, your account is assigned a certain number of points which reduce over time (based on the type of infraction you receive) whereas if you receive a warning, it's essentially just a verbal warning from a staff member as your account is not assigned any points regardless of the type of warning used.

Q: I just got an infraction! Now what!?
A: If you've received an infraction from one of our staff, it is not the end of the world. We employ an automated warning/infraction reduction system that reduces your infraction points over a certain time-span, based on the infraction type you've received. Suffice to say, if you're a well behaved member after you've received an infraction, you'll be well on your way to cleaning up your act and the infractions disappearing.

If you believe that you received a warning or infraction that was unjustly or unfairly given, please feel free to contact someone higher in the chain of command than the staff member that gave out the infraction. So, if you received an infraction from a Staff Member that you don't agree with, you would contact an Admin about it. While we strive to have a fair moderating process, abuse of this review of infractions or warnings system will not be tolerated.

What if this isn't your first infraction or warning? If you repeatedly violate any of our rules and, as a result, continuously receive infractions or warnings, you're well on your way to a ban or some sort of restriction being placed on your account.

One of the most important things you need to remember once you've gotten an infraction is to NOT discuss it in public.

Q: Why can't I discuss my infraction or warning in public?
A: While we try our hardest not to censor people unless we absolutely have to, generally when someone discusses their infractions or warnings in public they only provide one side of the story, leading to misinformed supporters gathering up in the discussion and causing pointless headaches for the staff that could have been avoided if all the facts were laid out or if there was no discussion at all.

Truthfully, there is no point at all in discussing your warnings or infractions in public as it will just serve to annoy the staff and not result in anything productive. So please, don't do it.

Q: Why does M for Mature have rules?
A: As with any decent community, M for Mature has a short list of rules that we expect everyone to abide by in order to provide everyone with a safe and respectful environment where people can enjoy themselves without fear of getting personally attacked or jumped on for having a different opinion.

The rules we have prevent us from getting into any legal trouble, prevent abuse by the members of the community and provide our community and our staff with guidelines on what is to be accepted and what is not.

Q: Why haven't the staff done anything about this post that breaks our rules?
A: If you've come across a post that violates our rules that our staff have not noticed, we ask that you please help us out by reporting the post (by clicking on
report.gif
if you use mfm_light or
report.gif
if you use mfm_dark). While some of us may be robots (like NeilR, contrary to what he claims), we can't be everywhere at one time and notice everything that's wrong in the community (although I think we do a good job of it).

Once you've reported a post, you may feel inclined to inform the thread that it has been done but we ask that you do NOT post that you have reported the post as it acts as flame bait, causes people to break even more rules or just creates pointless drama.
