Sometimes when windows comes back from idle, it just sits there for a few minutes, and I cant use it. I checked in the event viewer and right at the time it became responsive, I find these events:

Also, under Generic PnP Monitor in Device Manager, I was getting "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)"

Do you mean to actually change the monitor? im using a laptop.

I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the gfx drivers.

What exact laptop are you using? Some branded ones often have their own quirky bugs with certain software/operating systems.
