Windows 98 apparently running on the Nokia N95

If you think there are a lot of things geeks cannot do, think again. Last week, mobile enthusiast Marcin-PRV posted his success story of running Windows 3.1 on Nokia N95 on FrazPC site. The Windows 3.1 ran over Symbian S60 version of DOSBox software. That is indeed geeky.

According to Marcin-PRV, it took him a day to get Windows 3.1 working on N95 over DOSBox. Though the OS ran sluggishly, it was rendered in correct resolution and color. Wait, the desktop OS on cell phone gig doesn't stop here.

Apparently, new images spotted on the web show Windows 98 running on Nokia N95 cell phone. No further details were available on how the OS was installed, but, we can assume that DOSBox has been used again.

Can we anticipate cellphones running desktop versions of Windows 7 anytime soon? Microsoft, better come out with Windows Mobile 7 before any geek tries to do that.

Thought this might interest some people. If it's real, then it's pretty impressive.

Its amazing how the N95 can barely run its own S60 OS without lagging, but can run '95.

As if '95 is even chugging full speed.

And it's not that bad. There's a slight delay when clicking certain things, but it's hardly impacting. Things were fixed with firmware updates & the N95-8gb. (This is running on the 8gb version, which iirc is more powerful)
Why does the screen on the Nokia look rounded?

It looks like the picture was taken with a slightly fish-eyed lense.

Win 95 is possible too, i guess so is 98, just slower.
And Vee, i don't really know what's your problem, it should run pretty good unless you got some very old firmware, it's not like mid-range s60 devices...
