360 Xbox 360 HDMI sound problem

If any geniuses out there that can help me, I would be the happiest person. I recently got a used Xbox 360 from one of my friends. It has HDMI out but when I use HDMI cable, I don't get any sound. I downloaded the update from the Xbox site and installed it via USB, but had no luck. I purchased a new HDMI cable from http://www.dealrocker.com, but it still doesn't work. I have tried a couple of things mentioned on the Internet. Just wondering what else I need to check? Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this problem?

I don't have my Xbox 360 hooked up currently, but generally there is a way to change the audio out in the system settings. You'll also want to make sure your TV is properly setup to receive the HDMI audio (most TV's don't require any kind of changes, but yours might)
