Hardware issue!

You can always use the Pandora Battery Kit to install CFW!
Movies and Music (mp3) will definitely play/run fine...
But when running PSP game you will always be stuck on P$P logo with thewhite Background :)

Try taking out the memory stick and turning it back on. If this does not work, take the battery out for over an hour and try the steps again, without the memory stick in. If it works, insert the memory stick again. If it doesn't work, then you have a dodgy memory stick.

Try to play UMD games... So memory card issue (eg, Defective MS or MS Reader)will be out of the picture ;)

If still stuck in the P$P Logo with the white background then that's a Mobo issue.:)

Taking out the memory card is a standard repair procedure, which is why I mentioned it.

I believe I have tried this as 1st attempt to fix, but will try again, thanx

Not sure what mobo means pretty new to the psp forums:scared:

mobo = Motherboard.

It's probably a drive issue, though. If it was a motherboard issue, there's a very high chance the system wouldn't turn on at all.

Any way to sort out the mobo issue? I;e pandora or other procedure...

Well, if it's a hardware issue (I doubt it's a mobo issue specifically, seriously), a pandora will not fix it. Pandora is a software fix. You'd need to send it into Sony for a repair, or ask the site for a refund and get yourself a new one.

It may just be a software issue, however. You can and use the pandora method and install a custom firmware, which should fix the software issue, if it is.

Here's a guide to make a pandora battery, and to install a custom firmware using a pandora battery:

It's a GPU problem! and PSP can run movies/music even when theres NO GPU! (Graphics Engine)..... PSP can boot even certain IC are not installed like UMD IC , GPU , Memstik driver etc....

If still reads UMD it's not a UMD drive issue...

trust me I know this stuff ;)

If you bought the unit on an AS IS basis then you can't return it ..

but if you bought it and WAS promised a good and running one, then you have all the right to return and replace the unit.

Now you're just throwing ideas out of thin air hoping you'll get one right.

Also, if you're really that confident about what you know is right, you wouldn't need to tell me that you "know this stuff".

Ever thought the laser might not be working properly?

Also, once again, if it was a hardware error as severe as a damaged GPU, surely an error message would appear?

Even with a defective UMD drive... update should start and be executed..

But with just a PSP logo with white bg... clearly states that something's wrong on the Mobo itself :)

There'll be no Error Code for a damaged GPU ..it just get stucked on P$P logo!

I handled almost 50 PSP a day ! (HW and SW repair) So i REALLY know this Stuff ;)
