It's been known for some time that the PSP cannot run at 333MHz when the WiFi is activated, thanks to homebrew developers. However, with the recent confirmation of 333MHz being unlocked, we assumed so would the restriction on running at 333MHz with WiFi activated.

Apparently not. Sony Computer Entertainment America spokesman Dave Karraker has said that the increased CPU clock speed cannot be used when the PSP's WiFi is activated.

Obviously this wouldn't affect single player titles like God of War: Chains of Olympus, but what about multiplayer titles such as Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow? Hopefully developers find a clever way to work around this restriction.

All that worries me, is that some dev studios may take the lazy way out and leave single player running at 333MHz, while the multiplayer aspect runs at a lower frame rate on 222MHz.

Hopefully, the publicity that this is getting everywhere will get Sony to patch the firmware to remove this restriction.
