I was wondering about a possible idea of buying a sony PSP for cheap.

Now that there is a proven method of unbricking a Sony PSP (using it's own battery), for those who doesn't have one yet (such as myself) would it be wise to buy a bricked PSP from eBay for about 50 - 70 bucks then use the battery unbricking method on it once you get it? What are your thoughts on this idea?

Yes but the chances of finding a bricked PSP for that price on eBay are now slim :p

Anyways, if you do manage to find one for cheap, hopefully you know someone who has a homebrew-enabled PSP and can convert the battery for you.

You're also gambling that the problem was purely software and not a hardware failure. There would be no way to be certain until you had the unit and tried the battery.

Ahh yes. Now that is a good point there. Better to be safe then sorry and just to buy it new, then downgrade it from there.

You might want to wait for the slim to come out and see what happens before you buy a new one now. Its not long to wait.
