Wii Brawl Sells 1.4 Million Copies In Its First Week, Breaks Records

The critically acclaimed Super Smash Bros. Brawl has sold over 1.4 million copies in its first week, officially making it Nintendo of America's fastest selling video game title ever, the company announced today.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl has made the leap from video game to cultural phenomenon," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "Game reviewers and the public alike praise its fun game play and extensive, inventive content."

Digging deep into statistics, the first week figures equate to an astonishing rate of more than 120 units sold per minute. More than 874,000 units were sold on day one alone, according to Nintendo.
