Sony senior marketing manager John Koller has revealed that the company's official PSP keyboard peripheral, first announced during this year's Consumer Electronics Show, is slated to hit North American within "the next 12 months."

Additionally, Koller once again reiterated that the GPS peripheral, already released in Japan and Europe, is also due for a stateside release during same timeframe as part of the company's mobile social focus.

Sony has been talking about both peripherals for some time, let's hope at least one of them will hit the market by the end of this year.

I'd definitely get the keyboard. How does the keyboard work? USB or IR?(considering IR is no longer available on slims)

So now there's a gps locator, a keyboard, a ...your psp and pockets won't be so compact anymore. So put all in a new version, all that stuff fits in my even slimmer phone, why can't Sony propperly update the psp?

Let's get this clear... The psp gps peripheral is about 10x better than the built-in ones of phones.(signal and accuracy wise). The psp by it's nature is for gaming and entertainment. So having a built-in gps not only exculates the cost for ppl who doesn't need the gps system, but it also adds extra need of space to fit the gps receiver in. Where the slim model clearly have little or no space left to stick anything in.
