Button re-mapping (broken start button)

Hello all, my start/select buttons decided to stop working recently, I have tried cleaning under it by removing the casing but it didn't help. I know that it is possible to swap the O and X buttons via the registry and was hoping that it would also be possible to swap the start button for the screen brigthness or music buttons as i never use those.
anyone want to shed any light on how I could do this?

I have heard of remapsp which could be what your looking for, try searching it.

Thanks, I can't seem to get it working though.
Any other options/plugins, or a guide to setting it up?
I followed the readme but I get an error message saying it won't run.

you need a phat psp with 1.5 kernel add-on it won't work for

slim psp unless there is a new version for the slim..

Find one that is supported under the 3.XX kernel.

I am having no luck getting anything.
I found some software that didnt work, it was a cheat program but i couldn't get it working.
essentially my start/select buttons wont work and i need to remap them to the note and brightness buttons.
