Just use the 5.00M33 Updater and go straight to 5.00M33, then update to 5.00M33-6.

Very easy. Btw 4.01M33 is the firmware as is 5.00M33. M33 is the FW build (and probably the best )

i agree with january39 but it really depends what you want.

Be aware that when you update from 3.71 the load time from the ms will slow down dramtically.

This is corrected in 5.00m33-6 i think, you have to enable the function in the 5.00 recovery menu

also i believe that 3.71 is the best for playing games that require the popsloader.

and if you have a phat go throuigh M33-1 if you want to install the 150k add on

M33-1 suffers from a kernel init bug, so the user should update to 5.00 M33-2, and then install the 1.50 kernel addon if they have a PSP Phat. After that, the user can update to 5.00 M33-6.

This is a serious bug, it should be reported to Dark_Alex (if possible).

your previous games? as in from earlier firmwares.

Well, for homebrew, yes and no. Depends on the application your trying to run.

For sony signed games, yes.

DC8 recongnises it as a TA-86

Other Prgrams show that it is either a TA-86 or a TA-82

different programs pick it up as different mobos

Get its tachyon + baryon +pommel values and compare them to those listed for the TA-082 or TA-086 motherboards.

DC8 is pretty acurate. To make sure you have a TA-086, do you need to press the brightness button to make the screen work when running Version 1.50 or the original Pandora downgrader?

EDIT: Do the tachyon + baryon = pommel values match this?

Tachyon: 0x00400000, Baryon: 0x00121000, Pommel: 0x00000112

You might have a TA-084 (just kidding).

Also, try jas0nuk's PSPIdent. It is even better than DC8 when it comes to hardware information.

I think you have a TA-086, because on my PSP with a TA-082 motherboard I never need to press brightness to make screen work.

So its like this:

TA-082: never a need to press brightness button for Version 1.50.

TA-086: brightness button required to make the screen work for Version 1.50.
