PSP GPU Speed

well setting the PSP to 333MHz in the recovery mode also bumps up the GPU to 166 (which is the max speed).

not at all, Sony underclocked the PSP to save on battery life.
 
Apparently a FEW wifi modules don't run reliably at 333 MHz. I had several PMs from someone whose problem getting wifi to work turned out to be the speed. At 266 MHz, the wifi was fine, but at 333, it would cut out after a couple minutes. So if you raise your speed and the wifi cuts out, try backing off one click on the speed.
