For those anxiously awaiting for a homebrew enabler - otherwise known as HEN - to materialize out of the firmware 5.03 TIFF exploit uncovered by developer MaTiAz, rest assured that it is coming -- soon.

The video above, released courtesy of Team Typhoon and project leader Davee, shows off a PSP-2000 series unit running 5.03 as it soft reboots into a homebrew-capable environment after executing the injected TIFF code.

Those involved are still holding back on committing to an exact release date for obvious reasons, but if the progress made thus far is any indication, it looks like things are coming along just swell. We'll keep you apprised of any future updates.

Tiff Exploit - HEN Information [MfM]

Did you know that I suggested to Davee to call it 5.03 CHICKEN [via chat (and also asked him to call it 2.71 SE but that did not work)], but I can't believe he actually implemented it. :w00t:

He named his TIFF ChickHENa, which was relevant to what I was joking about on chat. I never knew that discussion and jokes would lead to that. I am wowed. :thumbup1:

Curious, why is this in Industry news, is it because it gets more views or because this is a major breakthrough? :confused1:

EDIT: It's now in PSP news. Problem fixed.

will this require pandora and that other stuff ?

No, Pandora is not required to take advantage of HEN. In fact the same exploit depicted here in the video will work on 3000 units. That's particularly the reason why a lot of debugging work is going into this - since Pandora does not work on the 3000, meaning a brick equals a dead PSP. They have to make sure the chances of that happening are next to none.

Sweeeeeet.

nice, i like the way the psp glitches up, its looks way cool, i might just dl it when its released just to watch it glitch!(when the screen goes funny)
it looks awsome!
keep up the good work (y)
