A tottal noob question i havn't been in the scene in a long time

anyways i heard that Dark Alex released a custom firmware

1.what can this do?
2.can i uninstall Dev hook just by formatting the stick
3. i made a flash memory change using Flash X by accident i choose option number 2 how can i reverse that?
4 while the Dark Alex firmware is running will there be a chance of bricking, or is this only during installation?

1. play movies , run homebrew , play psx , run emulators, and tons of other things

2. depends if you flashed it like i think number 3 is refeering to ... no. But installing custom firmware should remove the rest.

3. Hopefully some one familiar with that app will answer quickly im not familiar with it so i cant say.

4. If you dont do things like flashx you should be fine... just dont mess with flash till you know what your doing you will be fine. Any update runs a chance of bricking. Even sony firmware updates. But thats only when you write to the flash ,, like you did with flashx or an update/downgrade. theres always a chance during updates... Not after as long as you dont customize or mess with flash.


Also remember you should be on 1.5 to install D_A firmware. NOT sont firmware above 1.5 . Attempting to go directly from 2.71 to D_A firmware bricks. You must downgrade first... be on 1.5 sony firmware and then install.

Ver 1.50 to 3.40 What is different? I can play ISO and Menstick already.

Hi, I have searched all these forums and I can't seem to find a very basic bit of info. I have been running Ver 1.50 for a long time. What is the benefit of upgrading to Dark Alex ver 3.40? A simple list or point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

PS1 games, region spoofing, all features from fw 3.40 such as the internet browser and custom wallpapers. You can load all your games straight from the PSP game menu instead of launching an external program like DevHook.

Those are probably the biggest features.

Nope :smile:

you just place your games in a folder called ISO (same as fastloader I believe), and boot them from the PSP game menu.
