This plugin allows you to categorize your games/homebrew. It comes with two modes, a mode which makes a context menu pop up each time you open your Game Menu and lets you choose the category, and a mode which displays multiple memory stick icons, one for each category.

Update: Version 5

- Fixed some firmware incompatibilities and related issues.
- A large number of internal changes aiming at memory conservation.
- If you change language in vsh the corresponding game_categories_xx.txt is now immediatly loaded.
- Themes which use space padding to position text should now be handled correctly.
- Introduced general support for UTF-8, including language files.
- Normal menu on Triangle for Game didn't work in Context Mode, fixed.
- English and Japanese language codes were swapped internally, fixed.
- Plugin was causing an odd crash in Internet Search, fixed.

Update: Version 6

- Did attempts to fix a few crashes, although I am unable to reproduce the bug in my own PSP.
- Changed name of config file to avoid issues with the new format (old config will be removed).

Update: Version 7

- Should of finally isolated and fixed the crash that occured on some PSP's when pressing triangle on an icon, sorry for the many updates.

Totally unexpected release! Thanks bubbletune! :)

EDIT 1: One problem, the PSP seems like it'll boot, but it sticks to a black screen, and shuts off if you have Custom Firmware Extender 3.1 plugin enabled. V4 was playing nice with it however. :cry:

EDIT 2: I figured what it was. I moved categories v5 below CFW 3.1's position in vsh.txt and it works now :D

Can you add a men to show/hide the Uncategorized item in next version:)
When I selected Multiple MS mode, I didn't like the Uncategorized memory stick.
Sorry for my poor english,I come from Asia.

hey bubbletune,

I found a bug.

If I boot up the psp in "multiple MS" mode and press triangle on any icon on the XMB my psp freezes. I can press triangle on any submenu (settings or eboots/gamesaves/music in my memory stick folders) and my psp WONT freeze.

If i go to "game categories mode" setting and switch to "context menu", i can press triangle on any icon on the xmb and NOT freeze.

Here is the weird part, If i switch back to multiple MS mode i can use triangle on all icons WITHOUT freezing! :S

I have reinstalled CFW, and disabled all other plugings to try and isolate the problem, but it remains as long as your v5 is activated.

I am running on a fat (1000) with 5.50gen b2

I hope that is enough information to isolate the problem. I have only heard of one other case of this.

I have to say I am impressed. I wish more plugins would integrate into the XMB so smoothly as yours has. Where did you find the API to edit the XMB like that?

I'd love to see something like this replacing the Quit Game menu

Obviously you cant do the PSN stuff but you get the idea.
Just sort of like Custom Firmware Extender, but using the home button and less jerry rigged in there

Also, could you make a way to organize our stuff without needing a PC?
You seem quite adept at editing the XMB, how about adding an option to make a new CAT_folder, and when you select a game file, add an option to put it inside a CAT_folder, or make a new one

It's based mostly off reverse engineering and experimenting with vsh modules. :p

I've tried to fix the issue, and released an update. If the same problem persists, don't hesitate to report it, as I am still not able to reproduce the bug myself. Thanks to A_Nub for testing the current fix. :)
