Seriously, what is the point in even buying it if you can't play your old games?

NO ps2 support?....screw that

None at all, why they made this decision is beyond me. Backwards compatibility is now done via software, not hardware... so Sony deliberately nixed PS2 game playback on the 40GB. It wouldn't have costed them more to add it since its already a feature in the firmware.

Guess they want people still buying PS2s, or higher priced PS3 bundles :P

Someone seriously needs to take the shovel away from Sony before they bury themselves any deeper. Backwards compatibility is what keeps newer systems afloat! Now they're drilling a hole in the bottom of their already sinking ship!

Seriously though. If removing backwards compatibility brought it down to $200-$250 US dollars, I'd buy it. I already have a PS2, and the two versions of PS1 to play my old games on.

Problem is, it WON'T be cheap. It's still gonna be friggin expensive.

I'm not in europe , so I don't know what euro's are to american dollar , mind telling us the price in CA / US :p
