Takes long time to copy files to MS

Hey everyone,

I'm using Mac OS X on a MacBook Pro

I have a Sandisk 4 gig Memory Stick Pro Duo

Occasionally (not always) it takes a very long time to copy a small file size to the memory stick.

For example, I was copying Triple Triad for PSP to the memory stick, which is only about 30 mb, yet it took several minutes and the copying dialog said it was transferring several hundred files...I know for sure that there aren't that many files in Triple Triad, including the Python folder.

On the other hand, sometimes when I copy one large file, it only takes a minute or so.

So what's the deal here? Is it a Mac OS thing?

Nah, a lot of little files (which Triple Triad has A F-TON) takes quite a while, although 30 minutes is a little drastic... Maybe it's because it has to convert it from one filesystem to another or something? Just a shot in the dark.

I've found macs take longer to do file transferring and stuff then pcs but maybe thats just mine. Its weird cause I have a crap PC but a nice Mac.

Yeah, apps with a bunch of small files take forever. It took me like 30 minutes to transfer over Quake 2.

But the dialog box said it was copying over a thousand files, do you know what's up with that?

Probably because it was, man. Triple Triad has a picture file for every card, and there's ALOT.

It's just how the files transfer the com has to register every single file so if there all compressed together it will be much quicker then a million little files of the same gross size.
