XMB not loading with UMD boot

I installed 3.71M33-2 on a PSP-Phat and I can't get the UMD to load anymore. Furthermore, if the UMD is in the PSP on boot-up, the XMB doesn't load. If I remove the UMD, the XMB loads as normal.

Games work via memory stick, and I can enter recovery as normal. I guess I should also mention that a couple times I had to press select, then up to get to the VSH menu, rather than simply select.

Re-installing 3.71 doesn't fix the UMD problem.

Suggestions needed pls. Thanks in advance.

I don't even understand you,but im assuming you have umd auto-boot on change that to off and see. As for the vsh menu being glitchy that just doesn't make sense.

Not sure what exactly was unclear, so I'll make a simple statement.

1) UMD does not load anymore.

2) When the PSP is powered on with the UMD inside, the XMB (icons) do not display. After the UMD is removed, the XMB loads.

And no, UMD auto-boot is not on (either way that doesn't matter). I HAVE done this before with no problems, so like you, it makes no sense to me either.
