Question Regarding NAND Dump

Hi Guys, i was wonder since people saying do a backup of NAND w/e it is called, do we do backup of NAND before M33 or we can do it after we patch to M33.. please enlighten, and what tools can be used to dump nand. I have 2 PSPs and i want to make sure, if i do mess them up some way i can restore them with NAND. Slim and Fat all the way Thanks in advance.

Both before and after, best (That's what I did). So you can have a clean version of the NAND, also a "clean version of custom firmware".

That way you can start messing your PSP up.
**Correction**
That way you can save your PSP if you messed up.

To back up your NAND, use either with DC v3 (aka magic memory stick) or NANDTool.

I'll get the NAND Dumper linked ASAP ;)

EDIT: Link up. Also saw your post in psp-hacks.comXD

Thank You! finally got my answer :D

The NAND is the PSP's on-board flash memory chip, which stores all of the firmware files.

Does nand backup also backup the keys?o.o

Yep it does. That's why you can't restore with a NAND dump that is from a different PSP.

so should the nand be backed up period or just if ur experimenting with cfw's?

If you want to be extra careful, then yes.

cool... Ill do it just in case... I wouldnt know what to do with it until my psp kicks, tho... is there anything else to use it for besides restoration?

thanks for ur patience x3sphere... uve been a great help...

What was the "Nand updater loaded.bin" that popped up in my root after I upped to 380 M33? I had been wondering if it was ok to delete it, but I did it anyway...

I believe it is just a log file. So yes it's ok to delete.
