Once I have installed a custom firmware on my PSP, is it possible to go back to an original firmware, as if nothing ever happened?

Yes, from 3.71 M33 and + you can go to OFW without a problem, but it needs to be a higher firmware.
Eg: You can't go from 3.71 M33 to 3.71, but you can go from 3.71 M33 to 3.95
