Not possible to downgrade if I move to 3.10-OEA?

Well, before I make a purchase of a PSP i feel i need to know more so that I don't get cheated by local sellers.

You see, I went to other shops to ask around for their PSP prices, and I came across one that told me PSPs upgraded to 3.10-OEA cannot be downgrade anymore, at least for the moment. He advised me to buy his PSP 3.03-OEC because it can still be downgraded if desired.

But he mentions that a "manual" downgrade from 3.10-OEA is not possible, but he has the "special" hardware and software to downgrade, and it might brick your PSP. I am wondering if he's bulls***ing?

He also mentioned that by using 4GB mem stick will make the PSP laggy.

Are the above all true?

none of that is true. in all of DA's custom firmwares there is a recovery feature in which you can install any previous Sony upgrade or OE version.

no problems with using a 4GB stick either. just be sure to get a sandisk instead of the sony memory sticks. sandisk have much faster read/write speeds

Thanks for the flash-speed reply! And woah, i didn't know Sandisk mem sticks are better than Sony ones! And I thought the "original" Sony were supposed to be of better quality, build and offer better "compatibility" and speed. Thanks for the tip again :D

Hmm... I will do more homework on my PSP knowledge, and try to get back at the shop keepers who sells PSPs... haha. Nah, I don't think I'll bother.

The guy could have been trying to tell you the truth but instead , went with what you took it as...

3.10SONY fw can't / is a pain to downgrade.( i dont know if you can gta xploit it polly not)

He may have been trying to make some money of the fact theres a slight chance the psp's in stores are brand spanking new. Usually a best buy has ta-086 , 2,71 sony in the entertainment packs. But theres threads to know what your buying. Its pretty unlikely to get a brand new one in stores yet (20 days after it came out). He probably told the truth , then you misundestood and repeated it back , and rather then explain he said , yeh thats it.

re memory cards:
sony 256 meg card - fills in about 45 seconds
sony 1 gig card - fills in aprox 3 mins
sony 2 gig card - fills in aprox 4 mins
This is on a usb2.0 card, using the psp, and an external usb ide drive. It could go much quicker with a different harddrive.
In another forum we clocked the differance , for one gig , i was hittin 3 3.5 mins. the fake cards were about 7-8. As the numbers show, this doesnt include 4 gb cards, but again i heard fakes ,, dont alow you to use all 4 gigs, its like 2 gigs you can put iso in , and the other 2 u could put mp3 in,,, sony ones dont do this.
