How exactly do you rip a PS1 game to work on psp?

Ok, I'm a bit new to this, and don't know how to do it. I have croc 1 for ps1, and would like to play it on my psp. I was just wondering if there was a guide somewhere that showed you how to do this, because when I googled it, I (surprisingly) didn't really find anything useful. :confused1:

Everything you need to know is here on this forum.

In a single breath, I'll vaguely describe what you'll have to do:

Get Pops loaded and installed. Install the latest M33 f/w. Then, you'll make a bin or iso cd image of the game you wish you play on your psp, and then you will use a conversion program to convert that cd image into an eboot file. You will put this eboot file into its own folder, which will also contain a keys file (get the icetea converter - it comes with the keys file you require). So you'll have the "Croc" folder, with the eboot inside, and the keys file. Then, you'll stick this croc folder into the //psp/game folder. Then, you'll be able to access and play it via going to game/memory card in the psp XMB.

Its a lot easier then it sounds. Read around. The above was just a description of what you will do in order to get it all working, no real details on how to actually do it. Its really not hard at all once you've done it.

But how do you do that? I can't seem to find a guide or where to download the programs to do that.

Anyway, I tried looking around for the game, and I couldn't find it. xD I have both games for PC though, is there a way to rip PC games and turn them into PSP? *hopes the answer is yes* If not, is there a site I could download the files from? I'm assuming it's legal to download croc 1 and 2because the company that made it went out of business, so someone please tell me if I'm wrong.

If the company that holds rights to the product no longer exists, neither does any valid copyright, patent, trademark, or other sort of claims agreement.

Unless of course, another company bought rights to the game(s) or other intellectual property before the initial company went under.

I am against warez too. If fox interactive was still around, I would wait for it to be released on the playstation store. =P As a music composer, I am totally against getting copyrighted things for free illegally. xD

Oh, and I searched, but didn't find anyting...which is why I asked for a guide in the first place.

I still can't find any of the programs needed to do this.. :heh:

BTW, I have 3.52 official firmware, if I downgraded to 1.5, would ripped games work? If not, what custom firmware would I have to install for these games to work?

The guide is in the FAQ forum:

No, PSone games do not work on 1.5. Any of the M33 custom firmwares will work though.

Thanks, I searched for a guide and for some odd reason, couldn't find it. xD

What's the newest M33 firmware? I should be getting a pandora and magic mem stick tomorrow, and I hear the magic mem stick installs some kind of M33 firmware....

Just got done ripping croc. :D This actually isn't very hard at all. Now all I need is that custom firmware and I'm all set.

BTW, is it against the rules to ask for the croc 2 files here? ^^; I don't own the game for ps1 and probably won't find it, i've been looking for it for a while and no store has it, and I'm not paying ridiculous prices on ebay. xD

4.01 M33-2 is the newest. The magic memory stick won't install the latest M33 series firmware release, but you can simply upgrade to 4.01 M33 once you're running custom firmware.

Ah. I thought it was okay because the companies that made it went out of business, good thing I asked first. xD Is there a way to rip a PC game to work on PSP? Because I have croc 2 for PC, and that would save trouble running to every game store to see if they have it used.

I give the music I originally make to every1.
Soon the world will find out that buying stuff is useless.

Warez FTW

Warez are illegal, and they actually WILL arrest you for it. :glare: My uncle who knows how to pirate games and dvd's keeps getting warned to stop what he's doing, so that's how I know that. xD

It just sickens me all the free stuff you can find that still has a copyright! :mad1: In middle school orchestra, we never used originals, it was always COPIES. I looked on a torrent site just out of curiosity, and it was shocking to see how many UMD's that are VERY cheap to buy are being downloaded for free. I say the copyright laws should be stricter or actually enforced, because I will be a total bitch if anyone ever stole my work.

I don't think you understand the laws entirely, and I must also point out they are different as you change nationalities.

Generally, its not a criminal offense to illegally posses a pirated copy of a game or other copyrighted media product. However, it generally is a criminal or federal (US) offense to sell or distribute copyrighted media product. They simply warn your uncle, because legally that is the most they can do. The next step is getting media companies of respective products he is pirating to sue his butt, but that's a little unlikely, the companies in question, are interested in bigger fish then a single person. Even if he was selling the media for profit, only the federal government would likely show any interest, and not the companies themselves.
