Laptop speakers not detected

I've had my laptop for about a year now. It's a Toshiba laptop running Vista (came with it out of the box, not upgraded). I don't know the model number. Please help. I'll gladly give any other information needed.

Have you check windows update?


reinstall drivers might help.

The model number isn't on the bottom of the laptop?

I found an update for windows. After I restarted my computer, the speakers were as goood as new. It's weird how software malfunctions just as an update comes out (iTunes included).
