Play any ad hoc game online*updated*

THIS IS NOT MY GUIDE

I have two ways one i know works and the other im not to sure since i just found it today the one i not sure that works is using something called XBconnect and here is the guide

WHAT YOU NEED
1. A PSP ad-hoc compatible game
2. Wireless Internet (that you own)
3. A PC

STEPS

1. First, you'll need to download a little program called "XBConnect". The link is provided below. Choose the option that best fits your computer's needs.
http://www.xbconnect.com/index.php?topic=Downloads

2. After you have installed the program to your computer, run it. (The icon should be on your desktop)

3. Then, make your account there and log in.

4. Then, on your left it should show a list of random XBOX games. At the top, there's an XBOX logo and a PSP logo. Click the PSP Logo and a list of the PSP games should be there.

5. Click the game you want to play (if there are any servers online) and choose the host you want to play with. Then, it should give you some instructions on how to hook your PSP up to their network. Go through that process.

6. Now feel free to play with anyone, anytime, with ANY ad-hoc game!!!

7. HOSTING- To host a game, go to the bottom left corner of the window and it should say "Host". Click that and set everything you want to up. If a game you want to play online with someone isn't an option, thats O.K. Just host the game in a "popular" game area and have the title say the name of the game and the INFORMATION say Put in your "SOCOM FTB2 Game To PLAY!!! or something. Just giving an example.

8. HAVE FUN ONLINE!!!

Here is the one that I know works

What You Need
Xlink you can get here
A wifi max
A xlink account

-For those who have installed the drivers from the CD that came with the Wifi
MAX, uninstall them so that we can begin. If you installed either of the
server programs and/or the media manager, you can leave them as is (they have
no effect or purpose in this process).

-Make sure that the Wifi MAX is NOT plugged in when you begin this process.

-Download both the driver and XLink Kai Evolution VII, and also register with
XLink Kai before beginning the process.

-Make sure your PSP's Ad-Hoc channel is set at 1. This is just so it's on a
constant setting. Everyone who wants to play together must be on the same
channel. (This setting is in the PSP's main menu before you start the game.
Check your PSP's manual for more info)

-Read through the setup before you attempt it, so that you aren't caught off
guard by a step because you rushed through it.

(Setup)
1-Begin by installing "XLink Kai Evolution VII" for Windows.

2-Once XLink Kai is finished installing, install the "ZyDAS ZD1211B v6.17.0.0
drivers for Windows ".

3-Once the Wifi MAX drivers have finished installing you can plug in your
Wifi MAX.

4-When you plug in the Wifi MAX it will begin to look for the drivers. Make
sure the CD that came with the Wifi MAX is not in the CD tray, as it may read
from there first and install the old drivers. When prompted, allow the
computer to search itself for the appropriate drivers, or if you know where
you it was installed, you can manually direct it to the proper location.

5-Load up your copy of MHF* the PSP. Get your character to the guild hall and
choose to join the multiplayer hall (Circle).
(Note* - For any other game... you have to get your PSP to search for another
Ad-Hoc connection. Since every game has a different way of doing this.. I can't
list them all. Just try to begin the process of getting into an Ad-Hoc game...
the goal is to get your PSP to send out a signal the Wifi MAX can pick up.)

6-Once your character has loaded into the hall, open up the ZDWLan Utility
(if it's not on, you can start it either from desktop or Start->ProgramFiles-
>ZyDAS...). In the ZDWLan utility, click "More Setting..." in the 'Current
Network Information'. On the top where it says 'General Connection Setting',
click the change button to edit the values to the following:

WIRELESSMODE: 2.4GHz(802.11b+g)
CHANNEL: 1
TX RATE: Auto
SSID: *leave blank, but make sure the 'any' box to the right is unchecked*
NETWORK TYPE: Ad-Hoc
AUTHENTICATION: Auto
ENCRYPTION: Disable WEP

Then click apply to set the changes.

7-At the bottom of the "More Setting..." window, click on the "Advanced
Setting..." button. A new window should pop up. On this window, just make
sure you have the 'Power Consumption settings' set to "Continuous Access Mode
(CAM)". Also, just below that... make sure you have the "PSP XLink Mode" box
is checked. You can now close out of both the "Advanced Setting..." and the
"More Setting..." windows.

Note: As for world roaming, I'm not sure what effect that has on this. You
can set it to either World Mode, or to the country you live in, but for now,
just leave it as is.

8-Now back on the main Utility window, click the refresh button below the
'Available Networks' to scan for your PSP. The SSID you are looking for
should look something like "PSP_AULUS..." and should have relatively high
signal strength. Double click on the PSP name and it should begin the
connection.

9-Close the ZDWLan utility window and open up the KAI Config.
(Start->Program Files->XLink Kai Evolution VII->Start Kai Config)

10-In the Kai Utility, below "Network Adapter" check the "Show Dangerous
NICs" box. You will be prompted to restart the Kai Config. Once you restart
the config, set the following accordingly:

Kai port: 0
Kai Deep port: 0
Enable PAT/Launch UI/Launch Engine/XBox Homebrew: *check what you want
applied -- see help for information on each*
(I personally have only the Launch UI and Launch Engine checked for this
process)

NETWORK ADAPTER: (ZD1211B)IEEE 802.11 b+g(US) *make sure the "Show
Dangerous NICs" box below is checked*
Default XTag(Username): *your username*
Default Password: *your password* *checking the "auto-login" is optional*
CLOSE ENGINE AFTER: Never
ACCEPT UI CONNECTIONS FROM: Any IP Address

Click OK to save settings.

11-Startup XLink Kai.
(Start->Program Files->XLink Kai Evolution VII->Start Kai)

12-Click on the Globe icon on the top row of icons. Then click the Magnifying
Glass. This is just to load up the arenas to test help verify a connection.
In the middle frame, next to the 2nd Icon down (the check board), it should
say "Network Reachable: Yes". If that is the case, then click the folder icon
below the "?" icon on the top frame. If everything was done correctly, it
should say "PSP successfully configured"

If you did not get the same end result, then recheck the steps and make sure
you did everything correctly.

If this worked you can now play any ad hoc game online

here is another way i just found

Your computer must have a wired connection to the internet because setting the wireless adapter in this manner will make it unable to get internet through your access point until you undo the settings

Personally, I'm using a Laptop with a Linksys WPC54GS PCMCIA WiFi Card which I know works (WITH THE LINKSYS SOFTWARE UNINSTALLED).
Requirements

  • - Sony PSP.
  • - PC.
  • - WiFi card (or a compatible router that runs Kai directly on it - see above link).
  • - XLink Kai Evolution 7 (& to be registered).
  • - Internet connection.
There are two major points you must complete before being able to successfully play via Kai:
Set up your PSP, PC & Kai correctly, Load them in the correct order.
Setup (PSP)
Switch on your PSP without a game in and select “Network Settings”. Select “Ad Hoc Mode” and choose “1CH”. Now switch off your PSP and put your game in.
Setup (PC)
Depending on your current WiFi setup (if you already have one), you will need to ensure that your set for Ad Hoc.
1. Load up Network Connections from your Control Panel.

2. Right-Click your “Wireless Network Connection” and then select “Properties”.

3. Here, (I've removed unnecessary Protocols - may not make any difference) - select “Internet Protocol” then click on “Properties”

4. Enter an IP address from a private range (10.0.0.x or 192.168.0.x - “x” being 1 to 254 making sure no other devices are using that IP) and give the subnet of “255.255.255.0” and click “OK”

5. Now, click on “Wireless Networks” tab then Select “Advanced”

6. Select “Computer-to-Computer (ad hoc) networks only” and “Automatically connect to non-preferred networks” and then close. At this point you may want to make sure your firewall or Internet Connection Sharing settings aren't active.
Setup (XLink Kai)
See:-

* Red Circled Fields - need to be set up if you need Port Forwarding. Kai Deep Port should remain as 0! If you follow the Quick Start Guide as instructed above, you will know if you have to or not.
Loading Up Correctly
In order for windows to see your PSP correctly follow the next set of instructions:-
Ensure that: your WiFi card is disabled, PSP is switched off, and Kai isnt loaded.

  1. Enable your WiFi card
  2. Switch on your PSP and load your game then host a game via the menus.
  3. Make sure that Windows has connected to the PSP then load Kai.
  4. Check Kai's Diagnostics Mode to ensure Kai has configured the PSP correctly.
  5. Choose an Arena (in Kai) and host or search for a game (in your particular PSP game)
NB: If you the person you are trying to play against does not have “1 Sony” (in Kai) under their XTag, it will probably not connect.

Good Luck!!
