gPSP Help Needed

I have a FAT PSP with 5.50 GEN-D2
im using 0.9 gPSP and whenever i go to play pokemon (any pokemon rom) i get to the start screen, after that, i select new game but it just keeps taking me back to the start screen

Have you installed the required BIOS file?

ya i got the gba_bios in there

figured out my problem:
i was pressing X and forgot that X was set to the B button on GBA
