I'm also using JPN release. The unmodified R2 .tiff would require a few tries for me as well, but nothing near 8 hours. Mine works in 5 tries or less.

Hey man, if all else fails (and since things are getting desperate), try SOFT BOOT (1+2+Select+Start during power on) to reset everything to default, backup MS then format. My JPN PSP has these settings:

*Nickname: -leave as is-
Character Set: US
UMD Auto-Start: Off
UMD Cache: Off
*Theme: Classic

*Not really necessary, but they say it helps.

Once everything is set, try the Mod3 and the instructions from post#16. Copy back your games, plug-ins, etc.

Which would mean that for a completely stable HEN, it'll need to have the same system time as every other PSP. The main contributing factor to this fault is?

Actual boottime can vary based on a large number of factors, correct?
The main difference is the type, size, and speed of the memory stick, I believe.

adding 2-3 extra jpeg file helps a lot too 3 out of 5 success attempt.
too bad i only got a red screen because R2 isn't supported on 5.05 :argh:
