Need Electronics help!

Darkchild

The Doctor
I have a fan, supposedly, this is what it should get:

Voltage : 12V
Amperage : 0.24A

AND here's what I'm giving it:

Voltage : 9.5V
Amperage : 2.50A

Should I be worried about a house fire or will it be ok?

P.S: This fan is from one of the first XBOXes (not 360s)

Should be fine. The fan will only draw as much current as it needs so it will only use 0.24A and having it at 9V will only mean it won't run at full speed all the time. The only concern I'd have is if you have a component that is hooked up in series to the fan which will draw more than 0.24A. If it's on it's own it should be fine.

Yes, it is on its own. :)

Then should be fine. If you wanted to double check though, you could hook up an ammeter in series. Multimeters are pretty cheap and very dam useful for checking stuff like this :p
