Sorry if posted too many hah. If there was a function on this board it would be easier to manage it so it's not so large all at once.

Holy hell x3sphere. Now that's what next gen is looking like! Really want to update my GPU now :(

Crysis 3 already looks better than Killzone Shadow Fall IMO.

If only they could target current Crysis 3 on PC as a baseline and then be able to do crazy super sampling Anti-aliasing. I wouldn't have to buy PC versions anymore. T_T

are those downsampled or just using SMAA 4x or something? Speaking of, how well does SMAA 4x work in this game? Does it combat temporal aliasing well in motion?

Sure does, though it's still early yet for the PS4. At least they are targeting 1080p native this time around so games won't have crap IQ.

I'm running 4xSMAA at 2560x1600 and the screens are downsampled to 1200p. There is some shimmering on the edges of objects with SMAA unfortunately which is way more apparent in motion, but it's not bad. 4xMSAA + 2xSSAA would be amazing but no GPU can handle that (well maybe 2-3 Titans can).

Trigun

That guy, who Records Music.
Yeah and they didn't know that the final unit would have the same 8GB that is present in the devkits either from what I heard so it's surely to improve.

I could see that SMAA would have some shimmering, but it's still probably very good for the cost. (http://www.iryoku.com/smaa/downloads/SMAA-DX10-v2.7.exe you can see the temporal stability isn't as good as MSAA with this. But SMAA 4x is as close as it gets to 4xMSAA in stability.)

And yeah at least they are targeting 1080p and not sub native. But who's to say they won't start using sub-native crap again down the line in a few years?

If they already can't get decent AA (Killzone SF featured some post-aa implementation with poor temporal stability with lots of shimmering and flickering off in the distance) it worries me.

I wish they'd care about AA as much as they do about fancy lighting effects.

But it's best to remain optimistic. Even if for once I wish we'd get a game that looks as good as it's shown off to look with promo oversampled (Downsampled) shots.
Even current gen games could benefit a ton from this. Have you see the promotional shots for the game FUSE going around? That stuff looks AMAZING. I asked Insomiac if they are considering a PC version since they are making a 360 version too. And they said probably not since they don't have much experience with PC development. Which is a shame, because I know FUSE won't look anywhere that good on the PS3 and 360.

AA really does make the difference. As a sort of side thing, they released 4k resolution screenshots of Killzone last week.

If you downsample those to 1080p the game looks a million times better.

Almost as good as Crysis 3 downsampled from 4k

Looks amazing except for the ground near her feet in the 4th shot. Hard to tell. It looks like Tessellation/POM gone wrong haha.

But overall wow.

Are you using the Tress FX hair? Hard to tell.

Nah I turned the TressFX off, it looks nice in screens but in motion it's kind of buggy. I know the tech was developed by AMD so not sure if there's issues with it on Nvidia cards or what- but the hair has a hover effect when it animates, doesn't actually touch her shoulders. There's also random flickering on the shadows of the hair. That and you get a 20 FPS penalty when using it. Seems half-baked right now tbh, it shows promise if they can work out the kinks.

Aside from that I'm really happy with the way the PC version turned out. Crysis 3 looks amazing but I personally prefer the art direction of Tomb Raider.

Ah. The Titan. I think that may be my next card as well down the road when I have the money. Provided it's still available and there isn't something better.

Speaking of the Titan. How is your performance with it?

Like how does C3 perform and other demanding games?

I've seen official benchmarks and stuff done by places like Toms hardware. But i'd like to hear about user experience!

Pretty huge difference in C3, at 2560x1600 w/ SMAA it's hardly a pushover to run but very playable with the Titan. I get around 35-40 FPS on average, only dips lower than that during DoF heavy cutscenes. My 7970 clocked at 1 Ghz got around 25-30 FPS, which I felt was unplayable. The 7970 also had some minor stuttering in C3 which is completely absent on the Titan (maybe due to the extra VRAM?).

Tomb Raider runs great at 2560x1600 with 2xSSAA, pretty insane IQ for a recent game, and I get around 50 fps average. Although I do have TressFX disabled, just not worth the hit currently until it's fixed.

Tried the original Crysis and never dips below 50FPS on the opening level at 1600p. My 7970 still hit the 30s quite often, so huge improvement here.

Metro 2033 gets around 30-40 FPS with everything maxed. My 7970 could not handle this game with DoF on at 1600p. The DoF isn't really worth the performance hit, if you turn it off it's a constant 60 - but still nice that a single GPU can finally handle this game with everything cranked.

One thing I've noticed with the TItan is the minimum FPS is quite a bit better all games I've tested, which imo can make a big difference in real-world gameplay that benches don't always capture. For example with the original Crysis I tried running it at 1080, and the Titan maintained a constant 60 throughout - no dips at all.

Also the acoustics are great, I barely hear the fan at all when gaming. It's by far the the most quiet and coolest card I've ever owned (idles at 32 C in an Antec 902).

That's all I've tested so far. Haven't tried OC'ing yet or anything. Really pleased with the Titan though, I think it's overpriced a little as I've said before ($200 cheaper would make for much better price/performance), but it's a great card.
