if i didn't know that was from a game(and the gun was removed), i believe i'd mistake that for a real photo, at least at first glance anyway

Yeah, when the preview is downsized(sampled) for the forum, it appears that way.
But when it's fullsize, ailiasing on the water makes you notice

With the way it's set up, it has 2X Edge AA, which looks gorgeous for foilage and that's it. If you turn on FSAA, it basically cancels out the EAA. But it smooths out everything but foilage. Arg

give it another few years, and i'm sure new AA techniques/graphic's card improvements well make it possible to create games that are near/actual photo realistic

Some crysis 2 demo screens. While it doesn't look as nice as crysis+mods. On it's default settings in multiplayer it looks a TON better than Crysis 1 Multiplayer (not crysis wars)on very high+ No AA in DX10 IMO.
The screens with the framerate on them, I had fraps recording a video so it dropped quite a bit but still never less than 38 with fraps recording video which is still very good. Without fraps recording video frame rate on average is over 70+ on the rooftop map.

Also, possible to create comparison from Vanilla Crysis with those scenes?
I haven't actually played the game yet. Mostly just tweaking mods to my liking before I do sometime.

AA is on, 4X and downsampled from 2560x1600 -> 1920x1200. These shaders use a different AA method called NFAA... it's quite nice.

I will post some comparison shots with vanilla later.
