I don't think so. PS2 controllers weren't compatible with PS3 right?

It's probably a pain in the ass to map every game to both controller's inputs for devs. Or not, I have no clue.

Ehh, the DS3 lacks features the DS4 has (touch pad, Light bar, share, option buttons, Mic jack, etc), it only makes sense and really, who needs more than 2 controllers for the most part? The machine will come with one, I hardly see having to buy one extra controller being a big issue.
