Wall Street Journal reports that the impending PS4 announcement will see Sony leveraging its acquisition of Gaikai to provide backwards compatibility of PS3 titles through cloud streaming. Given the expected architectural change in PS4 hardware, this certainly makes sense as emulation will be a less viable route compared to previous generations.
Not surprisingly, WSJ says the tech will be showcased at next week's Sony event on February 20, where the company is expected to formally unveil the PS4.
