It may be a dumbed down facebook, but it allows you to follow almost anyone without them needing to follow you.
I'm personally using it as an mini RSS feed from all my favorite game development companies so I get everything in one place. The occasional interesting person, and some places for local games sales and events doesn't hurt either.

I'm more of a follower than actual tweeter

They both have a different purpose, which is why the two can coexist. Facebook is way more personal than Twitter.
