19$ MSDNAA Accounts (All MS S/W incl. Win 7!!)

Windows 7 has been ninja deleted from the software list even for existing users. Those bastards! Hope you've saved your keys.

I was only able to get one key and when I tried to get the other keys it was just an hour after they removed it..I'm extremely pissed

thankfully, you can still get it for $30. not as good as 19 for it and other stuff, but, still a lot less than the retail price.

If you've checked out any software aready then you can still view the keys for them in the My Software page. There were 4 Windows 7 keys in the beginning.

I'm aware, hence me saying I was able to get one key (can't get the others since they removed them)

I checked out almost everything useful as soon as I got them, so I can torrent the ISOs at least.

You can still get an IEEE MSDNAA account. They give 8 Windows 7 keys.

Bah. I never got the chance to get any of the Win7 keys because I thought they'd play fair.

Not to mention that my account will probably be disabled on the 25th anyway, because they asked me to fill in some details for the Student Academic Initiative, and they'd send me an email with the login credentials in about a week after they've checked the information.

Only that we have no such thing as "student number" in our school, so I guess I'm fucked either way :-P

How does the IEEE thing work?

My MSDN account was disabled today.

I called Microsoft to try and activate Windows 7 over the phone and they successfully activated it for me. I also used a French x86 key for activating English x64 so the keys are definitely only tied to the Professional edition.

love how our university provided this to all students, even though most of us aren't in the CS program

*edit*

Just checked and those with legit accounts from their school can still access keys/download for windows 7 professional

I just signed up for an IEEE student account. If you sign up now, its only $13.50 and valid until December 31st. You can an MSDN account that has 3 sets keys for Windows Server 2008 R2 (9 keys in total, 3 per edition (Enterprise, Datacenter, Standard)).

Windows Server 2008 R2 is awesome as a desktop OS. It's exactly the same as Windows 7 when fully configured and doesn't consume any more RAM either. Plus you have unrestricted IIS, RADIUS server, Domain Controller etc. all of which I have use for :D

It's perfect for gaming too. Exactly the same performance as Windows 7. I haven't come across even ONE compatibility issue in the past 4 months. All the Windows 7 x64 drivers work.
