3.90 m33 is not compatible with PSX games???

So..I juz finished upgraded my PSP to 3.90 the other day..But when I try to play PSX games like FFVII..something went wrong..
If I hit the new game option..the screen went all black ..If I load my game and enter a batlle..the screen mix with other colors..and freeze instantly which made me have to remove the battery..
I never face problem like this before..It'd be a big help to me,..thanks a lot..
