4.01 M33-2 Black Screen when loading game

I recently upgraded to 4.01 M33-2 on my fat PSP. When I go into the Game/Memstick submenu, I get the game icons and themes and stuff. When I try to launch the games themselves, I just get the pale white PSP logo, which fades away, then a black screen. Which doesn't go away. I press HOME, and it just asks if i want to go back to the main menu.

halp pls

E: Oh yeah, using a 4 GB Pro Duo thingy

Seems like a problem in how the game was ripped. Do you by chance have a second PSP at the house say a slim to try it on another unit? Or another stick you can copy the game to? My guess is you need to rerip the game and check settings in recovery menu.

I don't have another PSP, but I might be able to get my hands on a different memstick. Could the problem be in the stick?

UMD games work fine, so I was kind of guessing the error would be in the stick/stuff on it. Might I need to change any location settings, or UMD settings, or some of the "drivers" (that you get from XMB-> press SELECT -> e.g. NP9660 or something)? None of the games I've tried have worked.

I read somewhere that some guy couldn't get games > 1gb to run on his 4gb pro duo. Could there be any truth to this?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have never heard that, Maybe with 8gb cards.

Have you tried changing the drivers, i have had many occasions when the Np96660 has worked where the M33 Driver has not & vice Versa.

Might be worth re-ripping the umd to see though.

Fukcin woo. It seems I've been pooped on - I checked to see if my mem stick was fake, and so it was (PSP said MagicGate - Unknown, and I got some of the "laser-etched" graphics off the front face of the memstick with a knife). So apparently I can just blame the memstick. Unless anyone else has a better answer?

I suspect that is your answer. Plenty of fake cards around in the end you have to pay the money for a genuine one, thats why i always use Sandisk as there cheaper than Sonys ;-)
