4.01m33 to 5.00m33 BSOD

Hi, i just came to this forum, i have some psp related issues which i hope can be addressed here.

after upgrading my custom firmware from 4.01 m33 to 5.00 m33

my psp displayed a Blue Screen of Death after the initial patching.
It is displayed in multi languages and prompts me to reset my PSP by pressing "o" button.

i got freaked out, this is the first time i got this sort of error on my psp.

what should i do?

is my psp semi-brick or bricked?

after resetting, everything works fine, i can still play and load my games, but since this is the first time i'm getting this BSOD, i would like to get clarification and would hope to solve this issue.

Is it normal for the BSOD when updating from 4.01m33 ---> 5.00m33?

What can i do now that i have this BSOD ?

I think you upgrade it with your pandora!!., BSOD is normal in Unbricking or downgrading!, it always occurs!., but I don't know it came up with upgrading., BSOD is just the result of unbricking/downgrading or reformating the Flash 2/3!

Nope i dont have a pandora battery, have been upgrading my psp version as usual like i did when i got from 3.90m33 ---> 4.01m33-2

it occured during the upgrading of version, i downgraded it back to 4.01m33-2 without any BSOD though.

i'm still have no idea how of what could have caused the BSOD during this upgrade of firmware,
4.01m33-2 ---> 5.01 m33

as of now theres no visible damage cause by it, mp3 mp4 games homebrews plugins ps1 games all working fine now.

just trying to find out if there are any adverse effects on my psp as of now, since it still works fine, but the occurrence of the BSOD is making me jumpy.

Actually from my knowledge, when i was experiment with flash1 through flash spacer i got a BSOD from handling more then one file at a time in flash1. so for instance if i wanted to open eg1.txt and eg2.txt and copy them both i would get a BSOD. So from i gathered you can get one after formatting or flashing files to the flash.

i was once tried to delete my whole flash and restore it with an identical copy and what happened was, the flash filled up half way through the copying. i knew i bricked my psp from that moment and out of curiostity i turned on my psp and it booted!!!

and guess what it displayed...i kept pressing circle and kept on displaying.

so the moral of the story is becareful when handling witb the flash when you do, always have a pandora at hand.

All that it does is to reset flash1, you will get that error if flash0 is full, corrupt or changes which effect.....

Pressing the o is the same as reseting flash1 in recovery mode, as pointed out it could happen with old d/ger's but is more likely to occur on 3.71. SCE designed a little patch that made that error occur when trying to reflash a FW to a psp, a bit like a mini sony bomb.

Dont worry about it. But i would get yoruself a pandora battery set up.

alrite thanks for the heads up, people who make this firmware should at least give a heads up to warn ppl what they are getting into, if i knew there was gonna be a BSOD regardless of the reason, i would have stayed away from tat current firmware no matter.

Btw, if i already downgraded back to 3.71m33 with Hellcats Flasher v1.6 and then back to my previous 4.01m33-2 would i still need a pandora?
cause i already unbricked it with hellcats flasher. or is a pandora better ?

Recovery flasher would unbrick a semi brick, pandora a full brick.

Btw its not a problem with the CFW, and its not really anything to worry about - if you get worried by it perhaps CFW aint for you?
