4GB memory stick

I'm not sure if this is where to post this thread, I figured its the help center so why not?

Anyways, I just bought a 4GB memory stick for my PSP because I just got the Popstation working and I could really use more room. When I moved everything over to the new memory stick and closed out of the USB mode every icon said "corrupt file". When I went back to look at the files all the file names were various letters and symbols. Some where along the line the file got messed up or something. I'm not sure what to do about this if anyone has some suggestions or maybe to another forum that might have some answers I would really appreciate it. Also I did format the memory stick.

Old memory stick: 1GB Sandisk Memorystick pro duo
New memory stick: 4GB Magic gate memory stick pro duo
Firmware: 3.51M33 (with all the patches for it)
Stuff on memorystick: emulators and lots of music (all together about 3GB)

Thanks.

Are you running Windows?

Try this. Right click on the disk in My Computer and look under tools for ScanDisk or Error Checking. Run this and make sure "Automatically fix file system errors" is checked.

Not sure where to find the scan disk or error checking tool. I right clicked, looked under tools, and looked under start>all programs> accessories>system tools

Hmm... it's definitely there. Did you right click on the memory stick drive? Here's the instructions I got from MS' page:

1. Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the local disk that you want to check.

2. Click Properties, and then click Tools.

3. Under Error-checking, click Check Now.

4. Under Check disk options, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box.

5. Click Start.

Oh your right, thanks. Fourtunatly, but unfortunatly there were not bad sectors. One thing I noticed, after I fill it up so much the files start to get corrupt then eventually all the files get corrupt. Also I don't know if it is supposed to happen, but it takes about 45 min to copy 3GB of info on it (seems kinda slow).

Also i've tried on 2 different computers.

Is it possible that I might need to change some kind of setting in my psp, or is there just something wrong with the memory stick?

Have you tried formatting it on the PSP? (make sure you backup all data on the MS before doing this)

If that doesn't fix it... then its probably defective.

yeah I tried that also, I think its defective to. I'm trying to get a new one, so hopfully the next one will work. Anyways thanks for all the help I really appreciate it.
