5.03 GEN-B Games 5.55+ Proof.

Why do they need to show proof of this if it's releasing on the weekend? It's not like there are people denying it or is there? correct me if i'm wrong

No clue about that mate.
The GEN firmwares were bashed quite often when they were new.
Not that I see a reason they need proof because of that.

Perhaps they just wanna get the people hyped. :P

Good to see is all official UMD`s work under the 5.03 GEN-B.
Tho I doubt that the 5.03 GEN-B version will allow online play even with official UMD.

Online play should work. I don't think theres any way to check the firmware from user mode. Maybe the PSN sign-in thing can if the games use PSN accounts for online.

That is why most NEW games for thr PSP have the PSN Sign-In Option for Online Play. So the can bar it from the players who are using CFW, legit or not.

So far they haven't done anything. Even the PSN Sign-In games can be played online on ancient firmware. And some games still use their proprietary server, like GTA Chinatown wars uses your Social Club login and EA uses EA Nation.

An interesting thing to note is the PSN store WORKS on 5.50 when you are signed OUT. It only says you need to update when you sign in to buy stuff.

This makes me want to say "f--- the ISOs; I'm going to buy the games." Yes, I did pirate a few games, I admit it. But, what can you do?

Anyways, back to topic at hand. It's nice to see that 3k users - such as myself and other members on here - can still use the homebrew'd games/apps and play 5.55+ UMDs as well.

Also, what's up with the red screen at times?

I don't know what's with the red screen. I saw it once when booting chickhen (failed attempt) But still, why make this video now rather than at the time they told us that they were making a 5.03GEN-B?

Maybe the red screen is like the green screen flash on a wii when booting backed up games. (i don't really have a clue, just guessin')

That's true. I mean, they could have at least made a vid of loading it and running it at maybe the first or second week of development?

It could be, guess we'll just have to wait and find out.

The red screen is a type of sign that a 5.55+ game is being decrypted.
At first with 5.50 GEN-D, it was a bright white screen with some text like "5.55+ game decrypted" and had PSPGEN's site underneath.
With GEN D2 they replaced it with a red screen since some where hex editing the above text out and they didn't like that.

Now there's two options:
- Decrypt the EBOOT.BIN with Yoshihiro's tool or PRXDecrypter 2.3. That screen won't show at all.
- Leave the backup's EBOOT.BIN untouched and that screen pops up.

Basically, they have added an on-the-fly Game Decryptor into the firmware. I might be able to buy LittleBigPlanet PSP after all ;)

Just a question...

On 5.50 GenD2, how long does that white screen pop up for when playing a non decrypted 5.55+ game? (I have a 3k, i wouldn't know) and also, does it only happen once and then the game stays decrypted or does it happen every time you play the same game?

The screen only pops up if the game is decrypted by the on-the-fly decrypter in the 5.50 GEN D firmwares.
So that means if you put a game unencrypted bin file in its ISO\CSO the on-the-fly decrypter will have to decrypt it every time you start the game.
Else you would not be able to play it.

I think like said before most games can be decrypted by yourself using: Game Decrypter by Yoshihiro.
It allows you to decrypt the bin file on the PSP and dump it. Then you repack the ISO\CSO on your PC with the decrypted bin file.
Which will result in loading the ISO\CSO without the screen popping up as now the on-the-fly decrypter has nothing to do.

Extra note: That is for the GEN-D(2) full custom firmwares.
I do not know or decrypted games by yourself will run on the 5.03 GEN B.
But I guess they should. :)
