Activision Unveils New Direction for Call of Duty Franchise

The arrogance, and incompetent on Activison's part is astounding. They're acting like they played some huge part in making the Call of Duty franchise what it is, and they're so short sighted in what can make it a success in the future. It's amazing that they appear to have learned nothing from Guitar Hero... And how they think the people at IW will be able to produce quality products under these kinds conditions blows my mind.

I never had a real problem with Bobby Kotick before, because at the end of the day, he was just a shrewd (and poor) businessman trying to protect his bottom line. Now he's messing with people's lives, and their jobs. This makes him a true scumbag in my eyes.

CoD has just died as far as I'm concerned. And I'm not buying any Activision game again. I know this might sound like an exaggeration, but it's how I feel.

It's Harmonix all over again...

The difference being Harmonix was losing EA money. IW has always been a moneymaker for Activision, so to risk morale just to stroke your ego is not only reckless... From a business perspective, it's fucking stupid.

Infinity Ward is most likely bound for a slow painful death, now that all of it's spark has been extinguished, and are held under Activision's poor business practices. If I didn't know any better, it looks as if Activision wants to kill the industry from the inside.

The 2011 title has been confirmed to not be the action-adventure game but will instead be a new COD title with an undetermined developer. Given the time table it might be MW3, developed by IW

another crappy PC version I bet

Most likely but it doesn't matter, IW essentially made Call of Duty irrelevant on PC when it released MW2. Everyone is flocking to BC2 now. And Battlefield 3 will be the next.

Would it not be Treyarch's turn again?

WTF?

News: Sacked Infinity Ward duo: Activision didn't want Modern ...

Now they saying Activision didnt want Mordern Warfare?

That's not news, it's been know for years that Activision wanted IW to stick to the WWII setting. They saw the modern setting for the Call of Duty name being to much of a diversion, and thus, too much of a risk... Which is case number one that Activision shouldn't be making creative decisions, and should just stick to writing checks.

Treyarch's game is set for 2010
Un-specified developer for 2011 Title
Sledgehammer Games developing COD Action Adventure title <---- WTF??? :o
