Anti-virus help.

Yesterday i got an MSI wind and it came with a 15 day trial edition of Windows Live Onecare which is pretty good, but i cant find a good "alternate" way of paying for it.

The bottom line is i need a good, effective, lightweight antivirus for my netbook. I don't mind "paying" for it either.

Any suggestions?

nod32 is supposed to be lightweight. And its very effective. If you cant "pay" for that, go for avast. Btw, welcome to the notebook club :D

Leapord is currently fully functional on the MSI wind ;)

EVERYTHING works :D

Just do a slight bit of googling and you should stumble upon a great guide (cant provide link due to site policy as it includes ISO)

wasn't there a wired video about it 2 weeks ago?

Nod32 is pay-for software so I would suggest just saving yourself some trouble and go with Avast! Home. It's a great Antivirus and is installed on all my computers that I use, and best of all it is free of charge.

Just installed nod32 and it runs very smoothly, i dont even notice it's there.

thanks eldiablov :D

oh, theres one more thing i need help with.

How do i know if my copy of xp is validated? i skipped the validation when i first booted up the netbook, but the activation icon hasn't come up on the task bar or on Start > All Programmes either. But when i right click the taskbar and go on customise, it says " 27 days left for activation ". I selected "always show" but it still isnt there. Has it atomatically done it?

EDIT: ah nevermind, fixed it using

oobe/msoobe / a
