Gaming April NPD: Xbox 360 Tops Hardware Charts Again, Wii Sales Plummet

Microsoft continued its chart-topping streak in April, with sales tracking firm NPD reporting today that 297,000 Xbox 360 units were sold last month. In terms of unit sales, Sony trailed its nearest competitor -- yet still delivered a respectable showing with 204,300 units sold.

On the whole, industry sales were up 20 percent over last year. Despite this, Wii sales plummeted down to 172,000 units, representing a 38 percent drop over last month[...]

Not surprised at the Wii drop. It's pretty much saturated all of the Western market and can only really expand into other regions but the price of hardware and software would be prohibitive there. We'll see if the recent price drop will have helped by next month I guess.
