It's official: the next Assassin's Creed title is set during the American Revolution. While details have yet to be revealed, Ubisoft released cover art earlier today clearly depicting as such.

Shown is a white-hooded assassin, apparently of Native American descent, brandishing a tomahawk at a British solider. In the backdrop are rows of soldiers armed with muskets, timely weaponry for the 18 century[...]

Holy crap, I just saw this. And I don't know what it is, but it definitely peeks my interest, heavily. Loved the first AC, couldn't get into the other ones. But this one, this one just looks great. It's been a while since I've really gotten excited over a game.
 
Unless the game mechanics are revolutionary, I will not be picking this up. The setting has no interest whatsoever to me, though I admit it may for many people. I'm still waiting on the damn Assassin's Creed set in the Egyptian Times that we were teased with one year ago.
 
I thought I was done with AC after Revelations, but this peeked my interest a bit. It would be great if the founding fathers are templars and you are a Native American assassin. That would make a great story.

My only concern is if they focus too much on long range weapons or flatlands. My favorite thing in AC is coming in for a close kill and then free-running on the buildings. I just hope it doesn't turn into another shooting game with all the weapons shown so far.
