Ok so i am going to buy white slim psp but i've couple of questions.
1st) i've read that some ppl had trouble installing custom firmware on slim and light version, should i but original instead? (extra 32 mb of ram :'( )
2) Is this firmware/way the best and the only way to play cracked games

* 3.52 M33 Install Guide / Update 4
* 4.01 M33 Install Guide / Update 2 / 1.5 Kernel Add-on [150.PBP] (Phat Only)
3) and just so im clear to install 4.01 M33 i need 3.52 M33 and to have 3.52 M33 i need 1.5 official firmware version so i'll have to downgrade?
4) what are the chances of totally bricking my psp if something should go wrong?

ahh and PS: 1.5 Kernel Add-on ??? is it like lunix terminal in psp...?
 
Just go for slims.

As for slims you'll need the "Pandora Set". the Slims don't use the downgrade method anymore.

and 1.5 kernel is not a terminal XD It's adding an additional kernel for older homebrew to work.

first two steps totaly confused me. i get how to upgreat from 3.52 but that's it. any help will be greatly appreciated.
 
You really are making this way too complicated.


If you don't own them yet, go to dealextreme.com and buy the pandora's battery with a 4 gig memory stick (should be a package). It will not run you much so just buy them. Pandora's battery is a combination of a jigkick battery and a magic memory stick. When you put the pandora's battery and memory stick in it should ask if you want to install 3.90 m33. You will hit X for yes. After it's done you can get the upgrade for 4.01 m33-2. Just do a youtube search for "upgrade to 4.01 m33-2." and look for the user name zzk2001 or something along those lines. He will give you step by step including download links on what to do.

AFA the 1.5 kernel, slims can't use that. I have every emulator and none of them need the 1.5 kernel anyway. Basically, some homebrews require 1.5. if you have a phat, you start your psp in recovery mode and switch from 4.xx kernel to 1.5 to play it. However, most ppl have either updated so it runs on current firmware.

edit: if you actually buy your own pandora's battery you won't have to worry about bricking your psp. As long as you don't physically brick it, pandora's battery can unbrick it.
