Citing "Charttrack and retail customer sell-through information," Activision announces that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has already crossed the $1 billion mark in sales. The feat was achieved in 16 days, narrowly eclipsing the previous record set by Avatar in 2009, which stood at 17 days.
Another fun-fact: the CoD community now exceeds the combined populations of the cities of New York, London, Tokyo, Paris and Madrid.
"Engagement of our Call of Duty audience continues to rise around the world," said Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.
